Minister gives Rs1mn to SHCBA

Karachi: Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro Tuesday said Kalabagh Dam was a conspiracy to make Sindh barren and it could be made on the bodies of Sindhis.

He said this while talking to journalists after meeting with newly elected office bearers of Sindh High Court Bar Association SHCBA here on Tuesday. He handed over a cheque of Rs1 million to the Bar President Mustafa Lakhani.

He said that assemblies of the three provinces had tabled the resolutions against the Kalabagh Dam and opposed it several times, so ‘big brother’ must keep this in mind.

He said that he was proud to be a lawyer, adding that landlords could have murdered him had he were not a lawyer.

He said that their party could go to the Council of Common Interests CCI over the dam issue.

To query, he said that it was up to the national assembly when it dissolves the provincial assemblies.

Law minister opined that his party during four years had given Rs10million grants to the various bars of the Sindh, including SHCBA.

To a question, Ayaz Soomro said that holding by polls on six vacant seats of Sindh assembly was the prerogative of the Election Commission.
