Karachi: Inspector General Police Sind Shahid Nadeem Baloch has instructed to conduct medical and driving tests of all drovers of the police department within 30 days.
Addressing a meeting at Central Police Office here, he said comprehensive reforms would be introduced in traffic system along with coordinated steps to get the traffic laws implemented. He said in this regard the traffic systems of Islamabad and motorway system models should be studied and implemented here wherever possible.
Regarding the incidents of cash and purse snatching from motorists during traffic jams, he said concerned station house officer in case of any traffic jam in his area would be bound to ensure road security by deploying motorcycle squads. He said substandard number plates and tinted glasses of vehicles should be removed.
He said the traffic police should ensure availability of cranes, tow trucks and lifters to remove faulty vehicles from roads in case of any road mishap. He said community policing should be promoted at all levels to facilitate people.
He said medical tests including eyesight and hearing of all police drivers should be completed at the Police Hospital Garden, while their driving tests conducted at the Driving Test License Branch Clifton within 30 days. He said the police officials who are performing driver duty due to shortage of drivers in police department should also have to undergo these tests. Taking notice of shortage of police drivers he sought a detailed report in this regard so that a summary could be sent to the caretaker chief minister for approval of recruitments of police drivers.
