Karachi: “University of Karachi will set up an institute of Chinese language on the campus. Students attending the language course here will be able to attend the advanced course of the same language, free of cost from Sichuan Normal University, China”, informed the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser on his return from China.
Dr. Qaiser, accompanied by the Registrar Prof. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed visited China to sign a memorandum of Understanding between University of Karachi and Sichuan Normal University, China.
As per the MoU, the University set up a Confucius Institute for Chinese language, and will disseminate the knowledge of this language among its students.
The MoU signing ceremony was an extension of the agreement signed between the governments of Pakistan and China according to which, Pakistan will make arrangements for teaching
It is important to note that Sichuan Normal University will award the Masters degree of Chinese language, after the completion of a two year program at its campus. A presentation based on the introduction of University of Karachi was also given which was highly appraised. New horizons of collaborative research in various field will also be explored by these two Universities.
