It is visionary wisdom, which is one of the noble qualities of President Aliyev, which has made him a leading figure of peace-building in the world, and an advocate of dialogue among cultures, civilizations, and followers of religions, ISESCO chief said. He thanked President Aliyev for his activel involvement in promoting a just international humanitarian order under which the peoples of the world could coexist and live together in peace.

In the same vein, Dr. Altwaijri stated that dozens of international conferences were held in Baku at the invitation of President Aliyev and under his patronage, that dealt with the issues of peace, harmony, intercultural dialogue, and coexistence among followers of religions, with the participation of severak heads of state, thinkers, academics, intellectuals and religious leaders from all over the world.

In addition, Dr. Altwaijri pointed out that celebrating 2017 as the Islamic Solidarity Year was a judicious decision by a wise leader who values the deep meaning of Islamic solidarity and recognizes its importance in strengthening harmony and cohesion among Muslim peoples and in consolidating cooperation, integration, and coordination with the countries of the world.

In the course of his address, the director general also addressed the issue of educating new generations on the values of Islamic solidarity. We ought to infuse the rising generations with the spirit of Islamic brotherhood and educate them on Islamic solidarity and the concepts of harmony, fraternity, and loyalty to the values of Islamic civilization which have substantially contributed to the advancement of human civilizations, he maintained. Altwaijri added that they should be equipped with the appropriate means to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Muslim Ummah so that they can bring about the long-cherished civilizational renaissance, based on solid foundations of Islamic solidarity. He further explained that it is these emerging generations who will take up the mantle of building the future of the Muslim world, fulfilling Muslim peoples' aspiration to sustained progress and overall prosperity, and establishing a more prosperous, more humane and more secure world.

Against this backdrop, Dr. Altwaijri proposed that a subject is dedicated to Islamic solidarity in the educational curricula of schools and universities throughout the Muslim world. To this end, he announced that his proposal would be thoroughly examined at the level of ISESCO and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW).

In the same vein, the director general stated that one of the best ways to achieve the lofty goals set for celebrating 2017 as the Islamic Solidarity Year is educating the rising generations on Islamic solidarity and on belief in it as an efficient tool for promoting the progress of the Islamic world, overcoming its ailments and addressing the challenges to its full development and growth, with a deep understanding of the objectives of Islamic solidarity.

The ISESCO chief concluded that one of the manifestations of Islamic solidarity is to champion Muslim peoples' just causes to put an end to the foreign occupation of parts of the Muslim world, as in the case of the Azerbaijani province of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is still occupied by Armenia, in blatant defiance of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, stressing that the Muslim world's strength lies in its unity, solidarity, and cooperation with peace advocates all over the world.
