Islamabad: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the protection and promotion of human rights is the foremost obligation of the government and several legislations have been passed by the current parliament to grant them legal protection.
Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani here Thursday.
Prime Minister said that the government was considering appointing human rights defenders at the federal and provincial levels which would go a long way in the promotion of human rights in the country.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the Ministry of Human Rights in connection with organizing seminars and functions to mark Universal Human Rights Day on December 10.
