Engaging youth in healthy activities Govt’s top priority: Usman Dar
Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar says engaging the youth in healthy activities is a priority of the government.
Addressing a news conference along with Chief Executive Officer of Lahore Qalandars Atif Rana in Islamabad on Friday, he said sixty-eight percent population in the country is below 30 years of age, and they need to be engaged in healthy activities.
The Special Assistant said new sports heroes will be discovered in twelve sports through Kamyab Jawan Sports Talent Hunt Drive.
He said Kamyab Jawan Program and Lahore Qalandars will jointly hunt talent in cricket and bring forth new heroes. He said Muhammad Zahid is the first hero of this joint venture, who bowls at 92 miles per hour.
Usman Dar said sports need to be given the status of economy so that players could have employment opportunities as well. He also emphasized on promotion of all games including hockey and football.
Speaking on the occasion, Atif Rana said that they would conduct talent hunt programmes across the country after the next PSL.
