Karachi: Election Commission of Pakistan ECP on Thursday extended the deadline for candidates to file nomination papers for the coming general elections.
As per the notification issued by ECP the deadline has been extended by two days and candidates now could file their nomination papers by 31st March.
The Election Commission on the demand of political parties from Balochistan has revised various stages of schedule for general election 2013.
The date of filling of nomination papers with returning officers by the candidates was extended from 24032013 to 310313. The date of scrutiny of nomination papers by the returning officers was extended from 010413 to 070413.
Similarly, the last date of filing of appeals against decisions of the returning officers rejecting/accepting the nomination papers has been fixed as 100413, while the last date for deciding appeals by the Tribunals is 170413. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is 180413.
The publication of revised list of candidates would be carried out on 190413. The date of polls will remain the same as was notified earlier.
The above mentioned programme will also apply to the seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of the Punjab, Sind, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The offices of the Election Commission, as well as, the offices of District Returning Officers and Returning Officers will remain open on 30th, 31st March 2013, and 7th April, 2013, says a handout.
