ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted four benches of the Supreme Court at its principal seat Islamabad, which will hear hundreds of cases including high profile corruption scams during the week commenced today (Monday).

The benches will hear Rental Power Plants case, law and order situation in Karachi, huge embezzlements and illegal appointments in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), unauthorized use of Ephedrine, National Insurance Company Limited’s (NICL) mega scam and Devolution of Higher Education Commission etc during the week.

According to cause list, Bench-1 comprises Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed. Bench-02 consists of Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.

Bench-03 consists of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan. Besides, a special bench comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed will also hear various important cases.

According to Supreme Court rules, no application for adjournment through fax will be placed before the court. If in any case, the concerned counsel is unable to appear for any reason, the Advocate-on-Record will be required to argue the case. Besides, no adjournment on any ground will be granted.
