Al-Shifa Trust observes International Disabled Day

Karachi: Al-Shifa Trust (Special School and Centre for Rehabilitation) observed International Disabled Day. On the occasion Special children performed colorful tableau, songs and acts which were highly appreciated by the audience. Children also participated in an “Awareness Walk” around the premises of Al-Shifa Trust carrying awareness messages.

Ghazala Rashid, President, Al-Shifa Trust and Director PIA praised and appreciated the efforts of special children to make this event a success. Later, gifts were distributed among the special children.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called “International Day of Disabled Persons”.
