Muzaffarabad: The 9day Urs of renowned saint Sayin Sakhi Saheli Sarkar was started in Muzaffarabad on Sunday. AJK Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Muhammad Afsar Shahid and Advisor to President Raja Sajid inaugurated the Urs ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony the AJK Minister for Auqaf said that Islam spread in subcontinent due to efforts of Saints‚ Ulema and Mushaikh. He said that they had played unprecedented role in preaching golden principles of Islam in the region and dedicated their life for spreading Islamic values like peace‚ brotherhood and fraternity in the society.

The shrine of Hazrat sain Sakhi Saheli Sarkar is located at the District Headquarter office complex Old Civil Secretariat in Capital city of Muzaffarabad. The shrine has been a centre of religious activities and Spiritual inspiration for a long time. It is the prime attraction of the capital city.

The annual congregation Urs of the saint is observed every year from January 13to 21 with great solemnity. The URS is attended by many followers particularly from the region of Hazara NWFP, Punjab and Muzaffarabad.
