40,000 applicants waiting for computerized number plates for a year in Sialkot

SIALKOT: As many as 40000 commuters in Sialkot district have been waiting for the computerized number plates.

According to the details, the people belonging to Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils of Sialkot district had applied for getting computerized registration number plats from January to December 2012 but now the year 2012 is ending and they still remain unable to get these number plates due to the alleged slackness of concerned officials of Excise and Taxation Department. Despite the passage of a year, no one even a single applicant could get the number plate, amazingly.

When contacted the ETO Sialkot Mushtaq Afridi told the newsmen that the ETO office has already sent this big demand of the commuters to the Punjab government. He said that the provincial government has not yet sent even a single number plate to Sialkot, due to which more than 40,000 applicants were much perturbed, he added.
