3 foreign experts reach Lahore to improve dairy farming
Lahore: Three international dairy experts, on an invitation of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority SMEDA, arrived at Lahore Monday to align the dairy farming in line with international standards.
According to SMEDA sources, the experts include Mrs. Karin Eriksson, Chairperson, Breeding committee of the cooperative AI stat and breeding organization, ‘Skane Semin” from Sweden, Dr. Ing. Reinoud van Gent, Director Veepro Holland, practitioner, Dairy cattle from Netherlands and Mr. Roelof van den Berg, Chairman, Export Net NV Dutch Cattle Exporters Organization, Netherlands.
SMEDA has chalked out a very busy schedule for three-day visit of these experts in the town. On Tuesday, the experts will visit to Model Dairy Farms Star Dairy, Saadat Dairy and Noble dairy, Lahore and on Wednesday, the experts will visit Model Dairy Farms H & N Dairy Sheikhupura, SS Dairy Muridkay and Hayat Dairy Gujrat.
Whereas, they will remain busy in an interactive seminar at Decent Dairy Farm, Phoolnagar on Thursday to be participated by over 100 Potential dairy SMEs.
This is notable that SMEDA had facilitated an investment of around Rs400million for establishment of dairy farms across Punjab during the year 201112. Till date, 13 farms have been established in prominent districts of Punjab such as Lahore, Kasur, Jhelum, Chakwal, Chiniot and Gujrat.
These farms are developed on modern concept of ‘Environmentally Controlled Shed Systems’ and are comprise of Holstein Friesian Cows imported from Sweden with average milk production capacity of 30 liters/ day in contrast to local cows with avg. 11 liters/ day. The said experts’ delegation has, in fact been invited for review of these projects.
