Karachi: Due to ongoing strike of the Goods transporters’ Union, the supplies of over 25,000 tons of DAP urea from FFBL Plant Karachi to the dealers & farmers of the country are suspended for the last five days, says a release here Friday.
If supplies of DAP are not restored immediately the sowing of wheat crop may be delayed and affected in major parts of the country, as the application of Phosphates is highly recommended at the time of sowing.
Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited FFBL, the only urea and DAP production plant situated in outskirts of Karachi is unable to transport it’s DAP and urea for the farmers across the Pakistan which has created the shortage of DAP in upper parts of the country. This situation may result in a huge loss to agriculture sector and wheat sowing target of GoP may also be affected. Pakistan being an agriculture economy cannot afford to such situations. The indefinite strike by goods transporters has also badly affected the imports and exports from and to Pakistan.
