24 children die of measles in Kashmore Kandhkot district
Kandhkot, Sindh: At least 24 children of three to five years of age have died of measles during last 15 days while a large number of other children are suffering from the disease in different towns and villages of Kashmore Kandhkot district.
The names of victims of measles and areas are: Karampur: Khalid, Zahid, Riaz, Muhammad Ali, Jawad, Hussain Bux, Nazar Muhammad, Khair Bux and Babul. Tangwani: Marvi, Hasina, Aisha, Ruqayya, Ghaffar, Zakir, Noor Muhammad and Zafar. Kandhkot Mirzapur Locality: Shaukat, Anwar and Muhammad Khan. Kashmore: Babu, Naseer Ali, Nasir and Hasina.
The details of children dying of measles were given by the parents and local doctors of the area saying that a large number of children were suffering from measles but the government authorities have not yet taken any step.
District Health Officer Dr. Rano Dara when contacted denied that the deaths of children in such a large number were due to measles. “Yes some of the cases are of measles, but such a large number of deaths could be due to any other disease,” he said while leaving for Karachi on Sunday.
