Shehbaz Sharif permits to approve Lawyers Protection Act

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has given permission to approve the Lawyers Protection Act.

This was announced during a meeting with a delegation of bar representatives from across the country in Islamabad today.

The Lawyers Protection Act will be presented for approval in the next meeting of the cabinet.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said lawyers have strived for the supremacy of the law for a long time. He assured the delegation that the government will address the concerns of the bar councils. The Prime Minister said the previous government played havoc with all institutions due to incompetence.

The members of the delegation also apprised the prime minister of the issues confronting the Pakistan Bar Council, Islamabad High Court Bar Council as well as the provincial bar councils. The prime minister assured them of the immediate resolution of their genuine issues.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected official bearers of the bar councils. The Prime Minister said the struggle of the lawyers’ community is key for the supremacy of the constitution and law in the country and praised their sacrifices in this regard.

Pakistan, Lithuania express resolve to work closely for strengthening friendly ties

Pakistan and Lithuania have expressed the resolve to work closely for strengthening friendly ties.

The understanding to this effect came during delegation level talks between the two countries in Lithuanian capital Vilnius today.

Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis headed his country’s side.

During the meeting, they discussed promoting cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, licenses and education.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

Earlier, both the Foreign Ministers in a one on one meeting agreed to establish Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between Pakistan and Lithuania.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said strengthening cooperation between the two countries will ensure global security.

He said taking advantage of each other’s economic potential is our common interest.

PM directs to minimize electricity load-shedding during Ramadan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to minimize the load-shedding of electricity during Ramadan.

He said this while chairing an important meeting in Islamabad today regarding transmission of power and load management in the summer season.

The Prime Minister directed to improve the power transmission system and take appropriate measures regarding the load management during summer.

He instructed that all departments concerned should have a solid and comprehensive plan before the advent of summer season.

Shehbaz Sharif said it is a welcoming sign that share of local fuel and alternative resources is continuously increasing in country’s energy mix for power generation.

He also directed for taking immediate steps to make Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant fully operational.
