Govt to provide friendly environment to encourage FDI: Dar

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the government will provide maximum facilitation and friendly environment to encourage foreign investment in Pakistan.

 

He expressed these views while talking Tarek Hamdy, CEO of a leading Real Estate group and representing the prominent Egyptian businessman Naquib Sawiris in Islamabad on Monday.

 

The Finance Minister said the government is committed to fully support and facilitate Egyptian investment in Pakistan. He also welcomed and appreciated contribution of Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris and said the present government welcomes foreign direct investment and provides conducive environment to the foreign investors.

 

It was shared that Egyptian investor has long-standing business relations with Pakistan in telecommunication and real estate sectors and desires to promote this relationship.

 

Tarek Hamdy also expressed desire of the Egyptian businessman to invest in other sectors in Pakistan.

PM directs authorities concerned not to burden electricity, gas consumers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that no additional burden should be imposed on electricity and gas consumers.

 

He gave these instructions, while chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday to devise a strategy on reduction of circular debt in the energy sector.

 

The Prime Minister also instructed to make the system of collection of electricity and gas bills more efficient and effective. He said all possible steps will be taken to ensure increase the revenue of the power sector.

 

The meeting deliberated on devising a comprehensive strategy to overcome the circular debt in the power and gas sectors.

 

He said that circular debt in the power sector should be reduced.

 

Shehbaz Sharif recalled that the PML-N Government, through better polices, has given practical proof of complete eradication of circular credit during its tenure in 2013-18 policies.

 

He expressed the resolve that this problem will again be overcome through with continued hard work and effective strategy. He directed the authorities concerned to complete the reforms process to circular gradually reduce and eventually eliminate the circular debt.

 

The Prime Minister said that Sui gas distribution companies should immediately improve the bill recovery system.

 

Energy saving plan was also reviewed in the meeting. This plan will be presented in the federal cabinet meeting tomorrow in which the provincial chief ministers have also been invited.

 

The Prime Minister said the transmission system should be improved to prevent theft and losses of electricity and gas.

Sanjrani felicitates Govt, people of Qatar on National Day

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani says the friendly relations and good cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar will be further enhanced in years to come.

 

He stated this while extending his greetings and warm felicitations to the people and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on behalf of the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day.

He said the government and people of Pakistan highly value and express gratitude for the remarkable assistance and support rendered by Qatar over the past years, which have continuously contributed to socio-economic development of the country.
