Army and FC flood relief activities continue in various flood hit areas of the country.

According to ISPR, troops are busy in rescue, relief efforts apart from providing medical care and opening up communication infrastructure.

Army’s local commanders visited Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan districts and relief  items were distributed among flood affected people. Medical camps have also been established in flood-affected areas of both districts.

In Balochistan, complete connectivity of Gandhawa, area of Jhal Magsi, has been restored. Currently, there is no isolated area in Gandhawa and surroundings; whereas relief activities are also underway in the area.

Army is working on restoration of M-8 Motorway. CMH Khuzdar has established a medical camp where 115 patients have been treated so far.

Relief activities are also underway for affected population of Babakot and Gandakha in Naseerabad. The army troops distributed ration and cooked food among the flood victims.

Army troops are also continuing their relief activities in areas of Noshki, Lasbela, Kila Saifullah and areas of Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan offers condolences to UAE over loss of lives in floods

President Dr Arif Alvi and the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives, including Pakistani nationals, in flash floods that hit parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Expressing solidarity with the UAE in this difficult time, the President said Pakistan is also facing similar situation due to monsoon rainfall.

He also urged the international community to work closely to ward off impacts of the climate changes.

In a tweet on Sunday, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his sympathies and heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families.

He said at this difficult time, Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people and government of the UAE.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar in a separate press release, said the government and people of Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the UAE on the damage caused by heavy rains and floods resulting in the loss of precious lives including five Pakistani nationals.

Govt saved Pakistan from default: Miftah Ismail

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail says Pakistan’s imports have recorded significantly decrease of 2.7 billion dollars during the current month.

The imports last month were 7.7 billion dollars which have reduced to 5 billion dollars.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Sunday, he said decrease in imports will help in reducing pressure on Pakistan rupee.

The Finance Minister said with decreasing imports, pressure on Pakistan’s economy will also be reduced from the next month and our government is determined to minimize the Current Account Deficit left by PTI.

Miftah Ismael said Economic Coordination Committee has approved to remove ban on imports except cars, mobile phones and home appliances.

He said incumbent government has saved the country from default. He said the government is taking steps to broaden the tax net.

The Minister lamented the previous government for their policies which led the country to economic crisis.

He said due to imprudent policies of PTI government unemployment has increased.
